Kenny Chesney is back. His new single, "Noise," a collaboration with singer/songwriter Shane McAnally , will be out March 24.
"It seemed like everywhere I turn, everywhere I go, there is so much stuff coming at you," Kenny says in a statement about the inspiration for the single. "Your phone, your car, on the streets, on TV. Everywhere it’s just so loud, so much, so many different things -- all pushing buttons, being sensational, shouting for attention," he says. "You can’t escape it, and you can’t turn it down.”
Kenny and Shane started writing the song, but then Kenny had to rush off to an important meeting -- so, he says, "I actually sat in my manager’s parking lot, still working on the lines, the phrasing, the rhythms... Until finally I had to go in.” By the time the meeting was over, Shane and two other writers -- Ross Copperman and Jon Nite -- had not only finished the song, they'd also recorded a demo.
Kenny says the chorus for "Noise" "sums up both the state of the world and the reality of what it costs us." It goes, "We scream, we shout til we don’t have a voice/In the streets, in the crowds, it ain’t nothing but noise... drowning out all the dreams of this Tennessee boy/Just trying to be heard... in all this noise."
Kenny's most recent album, The Big Revival, came out in 2014.
